The Octagon of Doom-a name that instills fear into the heart of opponents. Kansas State-a program rich in basketball history-was coming off a decade of lackluster play, when, in 2007, things begin to change. The hiring of Bob Huggins brought a new brand of basketball to Manhattan, centered around frenetic defense and physical, gritty play. These ‘Cats deserved a home court atmosphere that fit with their new style of play, and thus a new name was given by the fans: The Octagon of Doom. Next came Michael Beasley, Fear the Beard, and a couple of Big 12 titles followed. Now, the Cats are ushering in an exciting new era with coach Jerome Tang at the helm. Coming off of an Elite 8 appearance in his first year, things are once again looking up for the club, and the Octagon is as raucous as ever.

An exciting event awaits young basketball enthusiasts! Join us for a fun-filled day of shooting competitions and a chance to win roll-away basketball goals. These portable hoops will be raffled off at the end of the event to kids who don't already have one at home. Participation in the raffle is open to all kids who participate in the basketball race.
